Rescheduled: Workshop for Stepmothers and Repartnered Couples with Children/Adult Children
Come learn the issues--and how to deal with them--with others who have been there!
Save the date–I will be co-conducting a workshop with Dr. Rachelle Katz (author of The Happy Stepmother) on Saturday April 21 at the Open Center of New York City. Women with stepchildren of any age and their partners are welcome. So are therapists and other professionals who work with repartnered couples with children, or want to learn more about stepfamily dynamics and the issues remarrieds with children of any age face.

hey Wednesday – would love to hear your opinion on the way the media has handled the Savannah Hardin case. From what see, most of the headlines read about the “evil stepmother” where in fact it was the grandmother that meted out the punishment that killed the child. Having myself been heavily pregnant and with a 3 year old, as the stepmother was, I can understand her leaving the parenting of the older stepchild up to the grandmother. Obviously the stepmother should have stepped in earlier (it was the stepmother who called 911) and the end result of her not doing so is tragic.. but interestingly I haven’t seen any “evil grandmother” headlines, most of the blame seems lopsidedly apportioned to the stepmom. The myths would appear to be alive and well. It will be interesting to see how the case progresses.
