Hi Wednesday — I tried to respond to you via the Psychology Today link, but for some reason your response to me didn’t show up! So I hope you don’t mind my replying here instead.

I’m not at all a de Sade hater — I’ve read him and yes, his work was revolutionary and vitally important to the genre. But his style of erotica skirts consensual sex in many ways, and I don’t think it can be viewed in the same light as more modern sexual works written by modern, or at least 20th century and forward, women (Sappho is obviously the exception from my list of suggestions, since she wrote centuries ago).

To me, if a woman wants to read things to explore her own sexuality, including fetish and kink, it makes more sense to look to modern female writers who aren’t afraid to own those feelings. Books like 50 Shades and similar always seem to fall to the tired trope of a strong man convincing an inexperienced woman to “try it, you’ll like it.” It’s more rare to read a work where the woman herself was the dom, or at least a “topping from the bottom” sub.

I hope that makes more sense, and — again — I hope you don’t mind that I moved the conversation here. Thank you for writing a thoughtful piece on the book. I will be looking to read more of your work.

depends on the skill/talent/working knowledge of the coder, and the amount of features being added.
you could have a very very basic bare bones page in an hour or two with someone who has the language in their head and doesn’t have to refer to documentation a lot.
